The Postgraduate Certificate in Education - International (PGCEi) is a one-year post graduate education course which provides training to teachers to become more effective within maintained schools. One of the most popular graduate routes to teaching, it grants 60 credits on completion that can be accredited to a Masters in Education.
The Postgraduate Diploma is the second level of the Masters in Education. Not common as a stand alone programme, graduates of the postgraduate certificate can gain direct entry onto the Diploma level in order to achieve the required 120 credits for a MA or an MEd.
The Master of Education degree (slightly different from the Master of Arts (MA) in Education) is awarded by Universities to professionals or educators looking to achieve a postgraduate qualification in teaching. An MA is directed at those seeking to conduct research or secure a research position at the doctoral level. Whereas, the MEd is a practioners degree and intended for those students seeking to acquire knowledge, skills and teachniques for practicing in the teaching field.
The Postgraduate Certificate in Education (International) is a part-time, distance learning programme of professional enrichment for teachers working in countries other than the UK.
